Rose Lowder was born in 1941 in Lima, Peru. After studying art in London, she moved to France and began to make experimental films that she has come to consider as a kind of research into perception. She taught cinema at the Sorbonne from 1994 to 2005. She also founded the Archives du film expérimental d’Avignon (AFEA), today hosted by Rose Lowder’s film distributor Light Cone.
