Gina Proenza’s work engages with the use of words to question relations of power tied to language and its social construction. Gargoyles sticking out motorized tongues, lightboxes transformed into musical scores, or rocking benches that encourage the audience to interact with one another: language—whether spoken, written, allegorical, or anatomical—is at the core of her practice. Woven from her Colombian and French heritage and her two –colonial– mother tongues, her practice unfolds through sculptures, installations, sound pieces and videos. 

In parallel to her studio work, Gina Proenza is actively involved in independent art scenes, being part of the curatorial team of Tunnel Tunnel in Lausanne since 2025, as co-director of Forde in Geneva (2020–2023), she also co-founded the artist-run space Pazioli in Lausanne (2015-2017). She has been teaching Sculptures/Exhibitions courses at ECAL University, as well as Writings seminar with Federico Nicolao and she is part of the Research Project PARASONIC, Pratiques aurales fugitives since 2025. 

Gina Proenza (*1994 in Bogotá, Colombia) lives and works in Lausanne. She realised solo exhibitions  at Treignac Projet (Rêve générale, 2025), Musée Cantonal des Beaux-arts de Lausanne (Toi et ta bande, 2024), KunstHalle St-Gallen (Moving Jealousy, 2023), Centre d’art Neuchâtel (Agarra-diablo, 2020) or Centre Culturel Suisse in Paris (Passe Passe, 2018) and showed her work in Basel (Liste Art fair), Lyon (la Salle de bain), Shanghai (ChenShan), Zurich (Last Tango) or Berlin (PS120).
