“Mother Earth” is an expression used to designate goddesses who personify the fertile Earth such as Gaia in Greek mythology, Pachamama in Andean cosmogony, Pārvatī among the Hindus, Etügen ekh of Turko-Mongol Tengrism, etc. In Facing Gaïa (2015), Bruno Latour links our inability to face the new climatic regime to the religious origin of the Earth image. For Emilie Hache, reclaiming the Earth as Mother (or as lover) is a way of restoring links with the living world of which we are part.
