Ali Arkady is an artist and photojournalist who has documented conflicts in Iraq, notably in Fallujah and Mosul. In 2016, he spent several months with Iraqi forces, documenting the abuses and violence of the war against the Islamic State. In his interview, he reflects on the genesis of his work “Mosul,” a lithograph on stone, which reflects the lives shattered by these conflicts while highlighting the hope and resilience of displaced families.
