Filmmaker and video artist

yann beauvais (1953) is a filmmaker and video artist, activist, film programme curator, teacher and theorist of experimental cinema. In 1982, he founded the Light Cone collective with Miles McKane to promote the preservation and circulation of experimental cinema, and was amongst the founders of the Paris Gay and Lesbian Film Festival in 1994 along with Elisabeth Lebovici, Philip Brooks, Nicole Fernandez Ferrer and Nathalie Magnan. His work has engaged with HIV/AIDS ever since his film SID A IDS (1992). His writings have been published by Antoine Idier in the volume Agir le cinéma (1997-2020) (Les presses du réel, 2022).
