Santu Mofokeng (1956-2020) was a South African photographer. A member of the Afropix photography collective that opposed apartheid in the 1980s, he developed long-term “photographic essays” through which he documented everyday life in the country over the years. A retrospective of his work curated by Corinne Diserens, Chasseur d’ombres, was presented at the Jeu de Paume in 2011.
