Marie-Laure Bernadac is Conservatrice générale honoraire du patrimoine. She has worked at the Musée Picasso (chief curator), the Centre Pompidou (director of the graphic art department), the CAPC – musée d’art contemporain de Bordeaux (deputy director) and the Musée du Louvre (in charge of contemporary art). She has curated numerous exhibitions, including: Féminin – Masculin, le sexe de l’art (with Bernard Marcadé, Centre Pompidou, 1995); Louise Bourgeois, (CAPC, 1998 and Centre Pompidou, 2008), Présumés innocents (with Stéphanie Moisdon, CAPC, 2000) ; Picasso et les maîtres (with Anne Baldassari, Grand Palais, 2008); Leiris & Co (Centre Pompidou-Metz, 2015); Cindy Sherman (Fondation Louis Vuitton, 2020); William Kentridge (LaM, 2020); Dans l’air, les machines volantes (Hangar Y, 2023). She has invited artists such as Mike Kelley, Jan Fabre, Joseph Kosuth, Tony Cragg, Wim Delvoye, Michal Rovner and Michelangelo Pistoletto to the Musée du Louvre. Her latest exhibition, Lacan, l’exposition. Quand l’art rencontre la psychanalyse (with Bernard Marcadé) opens at the end of 2023 at the Centre Pompidou-Metz. She has published several books, including Annette Messager, mot pour mot (Les Presses du Réel, 2006) and the biography Louise Bourgeois (Flammarion, 2019).
