Mari Lanera, in love with the popular music of southern Italy, takes up these traditional tunes in the respect of the codes by proposing a personal and inspired version. The voice draws its power in the desperate invocation of the loved one, and lightens up in the evocation of the delights of love, then goes astray towards tunes bordering on trip-hop. Love ballads with a dizzying rhythm and a heady melody that carry the listener into a state of trance. The intoxicating sound of the tamburello, the large Salentine tambourine, mixes with the sounds of electronic keyboards that reinterpret traditional pizzica instruments such as the guitar or the violin. The music, which sometimes refers to the codes of rock and cold wave music, is often repetitive, heady, hypnotic in its cadence and in the rhythm supported by the tabla.
