David Wojnarowicz (1954-1992) was a New York poet, painter and filmmaker, who in the late 1980s became one of the most important voices in the struggle against AIDS. His largely autobiographical literary work has been published in French by Laurence Viallet while his art has been featured in numerous recent exhibitions in the United States and Europe.
