Brook Andrew

Artist

Brook Andrew is an Australian Wiradjuri and Celtic artist and writer. His interdisciplinary practice is driven by intertwined narratives, often emerging from the mess of the “Colonial Wuba (hole)”. His artworks, research and curatorial projects challenge the limitations imposed by power structures and historical amnesia to support Indigenous ways of being, through systemic changes and yindyamarra (respect, honour, go slow and responsibility).

Brook is represented by the galleries Nathalie Obadia (Paris), Roslyn Oxley9 (Sydney) and Tolarno (Melbourne). He is Enterprise Professor of Interdisciplinary Practice, and Director Reimagining Museums and Collections, at the University of Melbourne. He was Artistic Director of Nirin, 22nd Biennale of Sydney (2020).
