A month after arriving at the Pavillon, the artists occupied the construction site located in the basement of the Palais de Tokyo for a 48-hour period. Alain Declercq proposed, as a starting point, that the artists reactivate one of their previous works in this monumental derelict space in which construction materials had been laid bare. This led certain residents to produce a site-specific reinterpretation of a previous work, whereas others departed somewhat from this proposition to better play with the place itself and its particular structure and history. For instance, out of a hole in the basement wall, Charlotte Seidel projected the film which marked the departure of the Cinématèque française from this very site in 1997, accompanied by the crackling sound of speakers and defective neon lights. Similarly, Morten Norbye Halvorsen presented the video of a wooden set where light mingles with darkness in a dramatic way. With Index of / the exhibition platforms maintain their mysterious quality while showing a list of works which have yet to be classified.
