“Futura’s knowledge is ‘The Master Mapper’,” said RAMMELLZEE about the airy and vaporous paintings of FUTURA 2000. A former collaborator and friend of the Palais de Tokyo, FUTURA 2000 is back to paint a mural in the institution in memory of RAMMELLZEE, whom he had known since the early 1980s. As pioneers of the early hip-hop and graffiti movement, these two artists, among others, helped evolve the original language of spray can art into a cosmic imaginary within the studio. On the occasion of a unique discussion with Hugo Vitrani, FUTURA 2000 reflects on his journey, his artistic evolution, and his friendships.
