For the Palais de Tokyo, Hajnal Nemeth is presenting an innovative version of her performance Contrawork, in the course of which different singers declaim a funeral oration to an automobile, painstakingly dismantled by a mechanic before their eyes. The car, the executioner of the motorways and the consecration of industrialized society, becomes a 30-hour-long martyr, made ever more harmless, gesture by gesture. The decomposition of the motor thus confronts the composition of a surrealistic opera.
