Adélaïde Feriot - Avaler l'horizon As part of La Manutention - Performers in Residency

From 24/10/2019 to 07/11/2019 starting at 7pm
Avaler l’Horizon ( Swallow the Horizon ) is an original attempt to work collectively and through life, being offered and orchestrated by the visual artist Adélaïde Feriot, in a response to the La Manutention’s format.
By working with time and space as a matter which is then sculpted by bodies, Adélaïde Feriot proposes work ecosystems, as machines to be activated. Out of sight, she fashions their workings, as in a score, in such a way that each activation will be at once identical, deep down, and yet unique, in that it has been embodied by its execution. The very writing of her pieces is directly linked to a body and rhythm, being often derived from an observation of nature. Sometimes it is age, or else a season, an eclipse, or else the end of a cycle, which is the guiding light of her work.
The 3 dates of her Manutention at the Palais de Tokyo (24th, 31st October and 7th November 2019), will allow Adélaïde Feriot to develop all or part of her original piece, entitled Avaler l’Horizon, which, in its extented version, brings in 15 performers who activate several of her machines, to provide a show lasting about one hour.
Her piece Regarder le Soleil ( Look at the Sun ), created for the SUZANNE and whose music was composed by Kerwin Rolland, unveils a choir accompanying the setting of the sun. Amid a sculptural installation, the dancer and performer Ana Rita Teodoro initiates gestures to rediscover the body.
The creation Brune ( Brown ), in collaboration with Fanny Ansel, is a piece sung by 3 performers.
Finally, Nuit Lavande ( Lavender Night ), a sound composition by the singer Héloïse Derly, captures the voices and breathing of 15 performers amid the apocalyptic skies of a polluted, urban nightfall. A fifth invitation has been addressed to the fashion designer Pierre-Antoine Vettorello, who will create the performers’ costumes.
Avaler l’Horizon offers an advance towards the fall of night which, as in an analogy to Borges, the artist associates with a slow and progressive loss of eyesight. It is the grasping of a final breath, before utter darkness.
In the spaces of the Galerie Basse, each evening will be paced by the activation of one or more segments of Avaler l’Horizon with a focus on each of the guest artists.
In collaboration with Sarah Mercadante, Gerald Petit, Noémie Stevens, Mathilde Chassaigne, Eric Feriot, Caroline Collin, Céline Peran, Madeleine Aimont et Magali Léger.
