Soñ Gweha

Transdisciplinary artist

Soñ Gweha, also known as SOÑXSEED, is a transdisciplinary artist, DJ, researcher, and community organizer based between Paris and Vienna, where they are pursuing a PhD in the PhD in Practice program. Their creative universe blends utopian, erotic, and spiritual imaginaries, expressed through music, analog DJing, video, performance, sculpture, and collective practices dedicated to transformative justice.

Inspired by their Cameroonian heritage, as well as Black/African diasporic mythologies, they create healing tools that explore alternative temporalities where intimacy and joy intertwine. Rooted in Afrofeminist and Queer struggles, their works examine the connections between human and non-human, visible and invisible, while celebrating resilience and vitality.

A graduate with a Master’s degree in Editorial Engineering and Communication, they are deepening their artistic research at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. In 2023, Soñ Gweha presented their first solo exhibition at Kunstraum Niederoesterreich in Vienna, “A QUIET STORM BLOWIN”, which is also the title of their PhD thesis. In 2024, they explored Kôô cosmology and Orixá wisdom during a residency at Pivô Arte e Pesquisa in São Paulo.

Their works have been showcased at the Smithsonian Museum (2024), Palais de Tokyo (2022), Mumok (2022), and the Museum of Black Civilizations (2018), among others. Published in Sex Ecologies (MIT Press) and Afrikadaa, they have been collaborating with the Swiss collective KitchensProsper since 2021.

Soñ Gweha was born in 1989. They live and work between the Paris region and Vienna, Austria.
