RESOLVE is an interdisciplinary design collective combining architecture, engineering, technology, and art to address social challenges. They have delivered numerous projects, workshops, publications, and talks across the UK and Europe, all aiming to realise just and equitable visions of change in our built environment.
Much of RESOLVE’s work focuses on providing platforms for new knowledge and ideas. A key aspect is designing with and for young people and under-represented groups in society. ‘Design’ here includes both physical and systemic intervention, exploring ways of using a project’s site as a resource and collaborating with communities as stakeholders in both short- and long-term project management. In this sense, design goes beyond aesthetics to become a mechanism for political and socio-economic change.
RESOLVE’s projects span architecture, urban design, community support, artist installations, and research publications. They have collaborated with institutions like S1 Gallery (Sheffield), Het Nieuwe Instituut (Rotterdam), Haus Der Kulturen Der Welt & SAAVY Contemporary (Berlin), and Tate Modern (London), as well as public sector clients like the London boroughs of Croydon, Ealing, and Greenwich.
They lead an undergraduate unit at the Architectural Association, were Research Fellows at Het Nieuwe Instituut in 2020, and are Honorary Fellows of the Royal Institute of British Architects. Collective members hold trustee, advisory, and teaching positions at organisations such as Build Up Foundation, Theatrum Mundi, and Wysing Arts Centre.
