Les Cousines [The Cousins]

Collective of artists

Les Cousines [The Cousins] is a collective of artists forming a network committed to the conception of spaces for sharing, creation and diffusion in the field of the visual arts. Founded in 2014 in Montreuil (Seine-Saint-Denis) by Camille Amzallag, Lolita Bourdet and Charlotte Yonga, this collective was born from a shared realisation: the invisibility of female careers and the lack of social and cultural diversity in the artworld.
Far away from traditional circuits, artists design creative, festive and participatory get-togethers, devoted to creative awareness and offering original programmes inspired by our relationships with the world. Privileged, intergenerational and cosmopolitan events, so as to share with different audiences the practices and explorations that concern them. With their transversal, playful approach, their projects are conceived so as to explore cultures and myths, seize on symbols and fictionalise daily life.
Les Cousines [The Cousins] also supports the emergence of new generations of artists from multiple backgrounds through residency and mentoring programs where everyone can discover themselves, transmit and make their voice heard. Collective spaces thought out as a laboratory of ideas in which practices and audiences encounter one other in their diversity, to give rise to unique collective works, on show in public exhibitions, publications and videos.
