Ghita Skali (1992, Casablanca) is an artist based in Amsterdam. She studied in France, first at Villa Arson, Nice then at the post-graduate program of the Fine Art School in Lyon. She was a De Ateliers (Amsterdam) participant between 2018 and 2020.
Skali uses odd news, rumours, and propaganda to disrupt institutional power structure. Her work often is both critical and engaged outside of the traditional spaces of art: through informal trades of goods, within (il)legal documents, and in things you might take home to make a warm cup of tea. She uses clever interventions to question reality, both inside and outside of the museum.
Skali has recently exhibited at Kunsthal extra City (Antwerp), 1646 (Den Haag), Karachi biennale, le cube independent art room (Rabat) and at the Stedelijk Museum (Amsterdam).
