Born in 1985 in Riga, lives and works in Hamburg.
Grantina’s films are open-ended investigations into the relation of exposure and its means of circulation. She sets in motion an almost mechanical dynamic between the force of mobility and the halted image. Elements are stepping out of or into the backdrop and are building a relationship between the exhibition space and the filmic surface. She calls it light circumscriptions, escapist sceneries and excavated silent films.
She recently staged a solo project entitled Fuse Fuse, Diana at her Bath at Neuer Aachener Kunstverein (2012) right after graduating with Rr_rr from the Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Hamburg. Other recent appearances are noted at Hermes und der Pfau, Stuttgart (2010) and Bell Street Project Space in Vienna where she studied in 2009. She was coeditor of PROVENCE magazine (2009-2011).
