Dai Xiyun (born in 1990) is an exhibition curator and author currently based in Beijing. Her recent curatorial research focuses on the relationship between botanical gardens and modernisation, with a particular interest in how botanical knowledge was produced at the intersection of colonial legacies and early nation-building projects in China.
She has worked on a rewriting project dedicated to botanical exploration in the Yunnan region in the 20th century.
Dai Xiyun holds a bachelor’s degree in spatial design from the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) and a master’s degree in fine arts from the Dutch Art Institute (DAI) at ArtEZ University. From 2012 to 2014, she worked at MAD Architects on media strategies, exhibitions, and publications. In 2016, she joined the art space “Institute for Provocation,” where she is in charge of artist residency programs. From 2019 to 2024, she worked as a curator at Taikang Space (now Taikang Art Museum).
