Born in 1995, Neuilly-sur-Seine – Lives in Paris, France
Chalisée Naamani (1995, France) ’s works are the result of a process that combines photographic prints with polymateric assemblages in soft, irregular shapes, which in space draw gateways to rebuses and emotional tangles.
Naamani creates « vêtements-images » (“image dresses”), sculptural objects that practically act like paintings, asking to be looked at rather than to be worn. All the images that are point of departure of her creations are sourced, mixed, collaged, and printed on diverse fabrics, being a perfect echo both to the act of scrolling and to the ultra-Baroque aesthetics of Instagram. In her research painting, sculpture, popular culture, fashion and technology intersect, becoming a fertile ground for cultural intertwining and linguistic exchange.
Trained at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, her solo exhibitions include “Quando va male, il leopardo” in 2023 and “Jt’oublierai vite j’te ljure” in 2021, both at Ciaccia Levi gallery, in Paris and Milan; “Week-ends éphémères” for La Galerie in Noisy-le-sec, and a solo show at Art-O-Rama, Marseille, both in 2021.
She participated in the group shows: “Rayon Jouets”, at Hangar Y, Meudon; “Si Madrid fuera mi Casa”, at Sabrina Amrani gallery, Madrid in 2024; “Au hasard, Balthazar”, at Friche La Belle de Mai, Marseille, 2023; “Power Flower” at the Nice Biennal 2022; “Felicità, Milieu des Choses”, at Poush, “Des Corps Libres”, at Reiffers Institute, “100% l’expo”, at La Villette, all in Paris in 2022; “Emergences” at BOZAR in Brussels, 2022; “PALAI”, in Lecce, in 2021.
In 2023, during the Artissima Art Fair, she was awarded the Pista 500 award by the Pinacoteca Agnelli, and in 2024, she presented a billboard at the Pinacoteca Agnelli. In 2021, she received the Prix Benoît Doche de Laquintane and the Prix des Fondations for sculpture and installation.
