Bocar Niang

Artist

Speaker, writer, performer, musician, and visual artist, Bocar Niang comes from a family of griots, the poet-storytellers tasked with preserving and transmitting the oral traditions of communities in certain regions of Africa and reconciling people with their lived experiences. His artistic practice is rooted in the collection of stories and events, which he translates into sculptural installations, sound recordings, or texts. Bocar Niang is a custodian of multilingual narratives that engage with griot culture and strengthen connections between individuals.

Bocar Niang was born in 1987. He lives between Tambacounda in Senegal and Paris.
