Aho Ssan is the artist name of Niamké Désiré, based in Paris. After studying graphic design and film, he began composing electronic music and creating his own digital instruments. Shortly after, he won the France Foundation television award for his soundtrack to the 2015 film D’Ingha Mago. He has also worked on several projects related to IRCAM/GRM. His debut album “Simulacrum” was released on February 7 via Subtext Recordings. Based on Jean Baudrillard’s concept, it navigates through notions of inclusivity and equality in society, in relation to his own experience of growing up black in France. Aho Ssan presented “Simulacrum” for the first time at Atonal 2019 in Berlin. His next solo album will be released this year on Nicolas Jaar’s Other People label, with whom he collaborated on a track.
