GOO, gymnastics for eyes and ears.
GOO is a performance that consists in a drummer and a mixer in real time. It is the musical improvisation that will have no other existence than this very moment, an energetic unpacking between two persons who never work together. GOO is a hypothesis of paradisiac chaos, fortuitous meeting, not surrealist at all. GOO will not be a remake of Sonic Youth’s record. GOO will not be qualitative, but quantitative – over 45 minutes and 27 seconds. Those forming GOO share the love of birds and wild flowers, and won’t be remembered by History. GOO will then go away feeling five inches tall.
Step into the breach
Six persons enter the exhibition space with three giant screws whose heads are baroque scepters with multiple faces. They screw them and leave.
These scepters blend the genesis of the Middle East art history with the one of Europe and create cracks with their various monstrous faces.
The shape of the screw connected to the scepter’s allows to implant the forms in the space of a radical gesture which confronts the preciosity of the genre with the mechanics of construction. Just like the exhibition’s title, this project seizes a certain archaism to highlight the impermanence of our faiths.
