As part of the new collaboration between the Palais de Tokyo and the Paris Opera, the Pavillon Neuflize OBC will open its June evening with a dance performance, the fruit of a partnership between artists in residence and dancer-choreographers which began early 2015. The two partners have been working together to explore lost dance, with experimentation very much the order of the day. This theme is inspired by the dance Theseus performed as he left the labyrinth in Crete. It is said the mythical hero reproduced the twists and turns of the maze in his dance movements to ensnare the Minotaur. Rather than interpret the story literally, the Pavillon artists and Paris Opera dancers bring you their very own, highly imaginative, version. The performance, which rounds off the first evening in the series, is an occasion for displacement of practices in a controlled fantasy, where video and dance intertwine as if mirroring the ramblings of the memory.
