Founded in 2024 by the publication department, the Palais de Tokyo’s micropublishing workshop provides the possibility for Risograph printing and the making of books and brochures, posters, flyers, cards, etc. These printed objects are conceived and produced in collaboration with artists invited on the occasion of the Palais de Tokyo’s artistic programme, but also with other departments of the art centre during some of the public workshops.
Risograph is a cold printing process in spot colours, between screen and offset printing, which uses very little energy. Risograph inks are vegetable oil-based and contain no solvents. The Palais de Tokyo’s micropublishing workshop has a Risograph duplicator which can print two colours at the same time and has available a dozen different colours of ink. The production equipment includes an electric guillotine, paper sorting and folding machines, a creasing machine, an electric stapler and a perfect binder. Thanks to these means of production in the art centre, the micropublishing workshop is an experimental space for editorial and graphic projects.
