Teachers & Students
Palais de Tokyo offers a wide range of visits and workshops for schoolchildren – from nursery school to secondary school – and students, regardless of their particular field of study.
Hosted by the Palais’ team of cultural mediators, these programmes encourage the development of practical skills and touch on subjects such as the history of art, science, history and philosophy, using a guided visit to one or several exhibitions as their starting point. Their originality is reflected by one fundamental principle, namely to inspire debate and the active involvement of all participants.
Specially-formulated projects aimed at school children are organised each year. Innovative and ambitious in scope, they help to boost creative thought and allow youngsters to try out new ways of learning by inviting artists or collaborators from Palais de Tokyo to participate in the programme.
Palais de Tokyo’s programmes for school children are part of a policy to ensure art and culture feature on the school curriculum, initiated by the French Ministère de l’Éducation Nationale, de l’Enseignement supérieur et de la Recherche.
All guided tours and workshops for schoolchildren and students are conducted in French.

Scolab – the Palais’ educational workbook
Palais de Tokyo invited Steven Leprizé from the Atelier ARCA to run a workshop for the 15-year-old pupils of this vocational secondary school, specialised in craftsmanship and wood work in particular. The workshop focused on the use of Bendy wood, with the pupils taking full advantage of the unusual characteristics of this wood to produce a series of original objects.
The artist Babi Badalov directed a project that encouraged the 13-year-old pupils of this school to express their thoughts and feelings about current events through poetry and the creation of a collective collage inspired by his own methods and techniques.
After a visit to the exhibition at Palais de Tokyo, schoolchildren became cultural mediators of the work of a Croatian artist, explaining his work to pupils of various different ages from a range of other educational institutions.
The end of each school year is the occasion to showcase the artwork produced by all the groups that participated in creative workshops, by the organisation of a presentation in the Palais’ learning centre.
